    Good news for fans of THQ's Darksiders and Saint's Row: Brian Farrell has mentioned revisiting these successful franchises, among others. The releases have been set for the fiscal year of 2012, and, according to joystiq, they're looking at the year for "accelerated growth with three major core game titles scheduled: Warhammer 40k Space Marine, a sequel to Darksiders and the third generation of our popular Saint's Row franchise."...
  • Indie Game Challenge

    Twelve finalists were chosen yesterday for this year's Indie Game Challenge, six belonging to the non-professional category and six to the professional category. The competition, held every year and supported by Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME), and The Guildhall at Southern Methodist University, gives amateur game-developers a chance to rake in more than $350,000 in prize money and scholarships.   • EA Sports FIFA Online

    EA Sports FIFA Online, a free-to-play version of the console games, is set to launch "over the next 12 to 24 month"  in the U.S. and Europe,  giving soccer and football fans (respectively) something to do at work. The closed beta for the game begins on February 3rd (application link), and is set to only allow 20,000 testers for the first phase, but open beta is scheduled to begin sometime in June....
  • Forza 3 Sells 1 Million Units

    Microsoft announces it has sold 1 million units of the game Forza 3. The stats for the game show that those million players have traveled a total of 590 million miles in 6.6 million hours so far.  Also released today is new Forza 3 DLC content, "Hot Holidays Car Pack," adding 10 new cars to the list.   • Max Payne 3 Delayed

    Take-Two has decided the release of their upcoming game, Max Payne 3, will have to wait a bit. New release date is scheduled to be Q4, 2010, possibly next Christmas. This rather large bump will give the developers a lot of time to refine Max Payne 3, and let's hope they use it well....

    UPDATE: TaleWorlds has stopped accepting application forms, but be sure to look for the release of Warband on September 1st! The team over at TaleWorlds have sent out application forms for the new Mount & Blade expansion. However, it isn't mentioned when the servers will start up.     Tripwire Interactive takes the road less-traveled with their recently-announced Red Orchestra sequel, Heroes of Stalingrad, which boasts a campaign mode putting you in the jackboots of a German soldier. It will still support the multi-player Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 was all about, but with a lot of new tweaks, namely graphics, physics, and stat-tracking.
