It’s safe to say that a new Gears of War game is in the works, even though there has been no official announcement from the developer, Epic Games, or any info at all. Despite the lack of anything official, EDGE has posted a new article stating that a source has told them about an upcoming trailer and the expected release date of Gears of War 3.
Edge says their source told them that Gears of War 3 is due for release in April 2011, and the long wait is most likely due to a few key factors.
“Microsoft’s keen to avoid a clash with Halo: Reach and wants Natal to own Christmas. That’s why we won’t be seeing Gears Of War 3 until next year, but expect a major marketing push ahead of its release,” said Edge’s source.
The source went on to tell Edge that a teaser trailer will be revealed on April 8th. A full reveal of the game is apparently going to happen at this year’s E3.
As this is to be treated as a rumor, it should be noted that Epic Games president Mike Capps recently hinted at a major game announcement to be made by Epic at E3 this year.
